Super supergroup with Robert Plant and Jimmy Page?

She’s been shy for a long time. When country legend Dolly Parton received the announcement of induction into the “Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame” in Cleveland/Ohio, she didn’t want to hear about it at first. The 76-year-old stated in various US media that she thinks she hasn’t made a big rock record yet. And therefore out of place there.

The Hall of Fame went through the formal process of nomination anyway, and since officially announcing this induction into the illustrious circle of mega-musicians in February 2022, Parton has announced that she is also tackling a rock album to mark the occasion takes.

Sonic Youth Nirvana and Many Others producer Steve Albini even volunteered for upcoming studio sessions. In an interview with the American livebiz trade magazine “Pollstar”, Parton now reveals some details of her “rock coming out”:

Including both dreams and concrete plans for this record. One of those hopes is to reunite Jimmy Page and Robert Plant of Led Zeppelin on the album.

“When I was inducted into the Hall of Fame, I thought, ‘There’s no better time to do this,'” Parton said. “I’ve actually always wanted it. My husband is a huge hard rock fan and I’ve thought about it for years.”

And further: “One day I would like to make such an album. Mainly for him, just out of Daffke, just to do it.” The nomination was unstoppable: “So why not just go for it while the iron is hot? Maybe I’ll ask some of the great rock legends to sing with me!?”

Parton has already started scouting for supplies and has “contacted a few people.”

“When I’ve recovered from finishing the film ‘Run, Rose, Run,’ I’ll get concrete. And then hopefully record a really good album. I am looking forward to!”

On the subject of Plant & Page, Parton added:

“I’m trying to get Robert Plant to be there. Maybe Jimmy Page could play a part too. Basically, I’m happy when I can get some of the great classics, girls and boys, to sing with me on some songs. I’m not far enough to reveal more. As who and what exactly? But one thing is certain: I will make an album like that!”
