‘Super Sepp’ (8) raises money with sponsored runner Jeroen: “I’m doing better”

Super Sepp and sponsored runner Jeroen van Veen walked (and cycled) 10 kilometers on Friday to raise money for the Princess Maxima Center. Together with family and friends they made a trip from Spaarndam to IJmuiden. Sepp also had a little surprise for Jeroen.

“I’m doing better than last year. That makes me very happy. I really enjoyed today,” says Sepp. On Friday, Sepp cycled along with the well-known sponsored runner Jeroen van Peat, who has been running 10 kilometers every day for almost a year to raise money for the Princess Maxima Center (PMC).

In January 2023, Sepp was diagnosed with lymphoma. After a period of heavy treatment, he was declared clean at the end of December last year. The relief is great, but Sepp still has to recover from the treatments. That’s why he sat on the back of his father’s bike today.

Kikathlon

The family would like to give something back to the PMC. From an earlier fundraising campaign, Sepp ‘completely blossomed’, according to his mother Kim. In the summer of 2023, ‘team Super Sepp’ took part in the Kikathlon and raised more than 28,000 euros. The family decided to support Jeroen’s action with the money that was left.

Sponsored runner Jeroen’s motivation comes from the loss of his 4-year-old son Kasper, who died of a brain tumor. “It still makes me emotional every day to deal with this,” says Jeroen.
