The movie has Frozen caught up. The successful 2013 Disney film has grossed 1.28 billion. But the sequel was even more successful than the original. Frozen 2 (2019) is still the highest-grossing animated film ever at $1.45 billion.
The Super Mario Bros. Movie premiered in early April. Within two weeks, the film about the plumber from the well-known video games broke the record for the proceeds of a filmed video game. The film features the voices of Chris Patt, Anya Taylor-Joy, Jack Black and Charlie Day, among others.
