TFF President Büyükeksi explained
The Turkish Football Association TFF canceled further Süper Lig games after the earthquake disaster. After the games of the coming weekend were initially postponed and in the period from 17.-20. February were laid, according to the latest information, the game will not be resumed until March. Hatayspor from the city of Antakya in the particularly badly affected province of Hatay will no longer be there.
“We had postponed our games, which were supposed to take place this week, to next week. But our pain is still too great. That’s why we decided today not to start until March 3rd and 4th,” President Mehmet Büyükeksi was quoted as saying by the DHA news agency.
Table 14 will no longer be there. Hatayspor, where professional Christian Atsu and sports director Taner Savut are still missing. “Hatayspor Club sent us a letter today saying that they will not play their games this season,” said Buyukeksi. It is still unclear how things will continue with Gaziantep FK, which is also affected.
The question of how the clubs’ outstanding games will be dealt with has not yet been fully clarified, said the president. Either all previous results from Hatayspor and, if applicable, Gaziantep will be annulled, or all remaining games will be counted as wins for the opposing teams.
