For years she was feverish with Formula 1 legend Michael Schumacher. Now “Eier Erika” Klütsch has died at the age of 91.

Erika Klütsch is dead: According to the “Express”, the “egg woman” from Kerpen and loyal supporter of Formula 1 legend Michael Schumacher died in an old people’s home in her hometown last Saturday at the age of 91. Because she breeded chickens, Klütsch was lovingly called “egg erica”.

Klütsch followed Michael Schumacher’s career over decades and accompanied his sporting path with Benetton, Ferrari and after his comeback at Mercedes with great enthusiasm. She became particularly known for her famous sentence according to Schumacher’s first World Cup title with Ferrari in 2000: “My eggs make Michael so successful.”

Together with her fan club, she followed the races of the seven -time world champion for many years. The meetings often took place in the “Alt-Kuppen” restaurant or later in the “Klävbotz”. There, the fans even organized a “pit pitch” early in the morning and then follow the races together in the Jahnhalle. The picture, like Klütsch after a motor damage in Schumacher’s last season, who born Kerpener, mourned with a figure by Michael Schumacher, became famous.

Even after Schumacher’s tragic skiing accident at the end of 2013, Klütsch remained loyal to him. “I regularly light a candle for Michael and like everyone else, I hope for a recovery,” she said. She particularly followed Schumacher’s son Mick’s career and was convinced that he would go his way in Formula 1.

Now Erika Klütsch has died. Her friend Reiner Ferling also informed the sad news of the Schumacher family. Like her husband Heinrich, with whom she celebrated diamond wedding in 2015, Klütsch is to be buried anonymously in Kerpen.
