Sunglasses stolen in ram raid: ‘Tyre tracks are 5 meters into the store’

A ram raid was committed on Sunday night at the Arnold Eyeworks spectacle store on Pastoor Doensstraat in Bavel. Around three o’clock at night, a window of two by three meters was driven out of the facade by a car.

Much of the shop furniture was damaged. Part of the furniture was pushed against the back wall of the business when the car drove in. “The tire tracks are five meters into the store,” the police said.

The thieves made off with sunglasses.

Massive havoc
The owner of the business received an alarm after the ram raid and then hurried to his store. When he got there, he saw the enormous devastation. There was no trace of the perpetrators.

The car used in the ram raid was found on Woestenbergseweg around nine o’clock on Monday morning. The car is quite damaged at the front. At a dead end, the car crashed into a pole next to a meadow.

The car will be examined for traces and towed at a later time.
