Sunday’s race: ‘The start will be crucial for Verstappen’ | NOW

Now that Formula 1 qualifying in Great Britain is over, our reporters Patrick Moeke and Joost Nederpelt can make a prediction for Sunday’s race. What do these experts think? And what do you think? Shine your light on our reaction platform NUjij.

Patrick: “I expect Max Verstappen to win at Silverstone on Sunday. It still looked a bit difficult on Friday, but on Saturday during the third free practice, Verstappen was the fastest by distance – in dry conditions. That is promising for the race, as it is Sunday “Probably will stay dry. The start will be crucial for Verstappen, because if he is overtaken by Charles Leclerc I think a victory will be difficult. Verstappen wins, ahead of number two Leclerc and I think Carlos Sainz will finish third.”

Joost: “I expect Verstappen to be the winner. In the third free practice he showed that there is enough speed in the Red Bull. If there is a threat, it is usually from Leclerc. He is always great at Silverstone, and the Ferrari is of course a car that can often – but not always – keep up with the Red Bull. But I expect that the Red Bull is simply faster and that Verstappen will take a dominant victory. Sainz already loses the lead at the start and also has to pass his teammate .”
