Summer sun lures masses of tourists to the sea
Holidaying in our own country is more than ever a trend, but foreign tourists are also finding their way to our Belgian coast again. In total, about 880,000 overnight stays were booked, which is also the highest number of this and last summer. For example, the hotels recorded an average occupancy of more than 95 percent. Foreign reservations account for about 30 percent. These holidaymakers mainly come from the Netherlands, Germany, France and the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg.
The number of day tourists during the extended weekend is estimated at 400,000. Top days were Saturday and Sunday, each time with over 150,000 day tourists.
