It is 25 years since Waregem could officially call itself the city. To celebrate that, there are a lot of activities this year, such as the Summer Search. A 32 -kilometer bike ride that takes you past a lot of beautiful and important places of Waregem and the boroughs.

Quinn and I start at the Leie in Sint-Eloois-Vijve, at ‘t Sas. From there it goes to Kortrijk via the towpath where we have to look for signs of the summer search where a fact and a question about Waregem are always.

With our first sign it is immediately clear that it will not be easy! We are asked what the cyclists’ bridge is called that was built over the Leie a few years ago. Ai, we don’t know that … Fortunately, Quinn immediately has his smartphone in hand to look it up. The bridge is called the flax bridge and we pass it a few kilometers away.

The bike ride along the Leie is getting greener and meanders from left to right and back and gives a certain rest. In between, we try to find the correct answers and we fill in that crosswords on our form.

Before we leave the towpath along the Leie, we make a stopover in the Zavelput. Now a nature reserve but used to be a sand quarry here. It is now a pond where you can relax and enjoy nature.
