Summary: Koog Zaandijk – Fortuna – NH Sport/Frank van der Meijden

For Koog Zaandijk it was the last chance to continue in the play-offs of the Korfbal League. The Koogers lost the first leg with a difference of no less than thirteen points: 33-20. The match in Koog aan de Zaan started more than ten minutes later, because the playing field had to be cleared after a nice atmospheric action.

Defensive Block

Also in the second game of the best-of-three series, Fortuna was the stronger team. In the opening phase, the visitors immediately took the initiative: 2-4. It was striking that KZ was unable to score the easy balls, so that it lagged behind the facts. Thanks to hits from Emiel de Kruijff and Anouk Haars, KZ stayed in the track until 4-5, but then Fortuna had the upper hand.

Coach Tim Bakker opted for a more defensive tactic. As a result, his team conceded fewer goals, but it was also difficult to score itself. Fleur Hoek took Fortuna by the hand with six hits before the break. KZ faced a 7-12 deficit at halftime.

Combatant

In the second half, KZ’s production almost completely stopped. The Koogers barely managed to make any more points and saw Fortuna happily continue. As a result, Fortuna was leading 10-18 ten minutes before the end. KZ still fought for what it was worth and came back to five points behind: 15-20. However, the damage was already done by then.

Due to the defeat, KZ is eliminated in the semi-finals of the play-offs. Fortuna advances to the final in Ahoy and will play against PKC.
