HV Volendam made it unnecessarily difficult for itself in the first half against last half Fortissimo. Without the injured captain Sabrina van der Mast, Jaimy Mens became the star with eleven hits. After the break, the Volendam handball players still went on to win a big: 29-22.
HV Volendam was sloppy in the first half and because of this, trainer Serge Ter Horst’s team got up to speed late. The Volendam team had trouble with the physically strong Fortissimo. The last of the Eredivisie therefore stayed in the track of the home team for a long time. Jaimy Mens was right on target on behalf of Volendam. The Volendam already scored five goals in the first half and partly because of this it was in Volendam’s favor halfway 17-15.
Volendam distances itself
After the break Mens continued to score and would eventually reach eleven hits. Early in the second half it was still 19-18, but after that Volendam quickly took a large lead. They ran out to 27-20 and Fortissimo’s resistance was already broken by then. In the end, the final score was 29-22 on the board.
With the win, Volendam temporarily takes over fifth place in the Eredivisie from SEW. The team from Nibbixwoud did not play against VZV this weekend due to a Corona outbreak. The handball players of Volendam now have sixteen points from sixteen games.
