After four victories, the indoor football players of Os Lusitanos are back with both feet on the ground. The Amsterdam team lost 1-3 against Hovocubo in front of their own audience. This was an important boost for the West Frisians, because the championship candidate already lost five points in this early season.
The game between the two superpowers was not always good with regular careless losses of ball. Still, the supporters in the crowded hall of the Calvijn College saw an entertaining match. The game went back and forth and both teams fought for every meter. In the first half, however, that fighting spirit did not result in any goals, which only came after the break. Hovocubo took the lead from a penalty and five minutes before the end, Hicham Aklalouch doubled the score, 0-2.
Connection goal
From that moment on, Os Lusitanos coach Eric de Jongh decided to exchange the goalkeeper for an extra field player. This surplus situation resulted in Iliass Bouzit’s tying goal a minute before the end. In the closing seconds there was one more goal and it came from the foot of Mats Velsenboer. The captain of the Horinese thus decided this North Holland derby, 1-3.

“During the match I had the idea that whoever scored first would win,” said a cheerful Appie Marbah afterwards. Hovocubo’s assistant coach did the honors this afternoon, because head coach Sander van Dijk is still serving a suspension. “I’m a happy man with this victory.”
“Extra scoop”
Mo Attaibi looked less happy after the final whistle. The captain of Os Lusitanos had been ill all week and noted that he and the rest of the team did not play a good match. “This is a bit of a downer, but next time we’ll just go the extra mile.”
The loss drops Os Lusitanos to fifth place in the rankings. After five matches, the Amsterdam futsal club has collected twelve points. Hovocubo is close behind with ten points and is in sixth position in the Premier League. The leader is Tigers Roermond with the maximum number of points of fifteen.
The summary will appear later in this article.
