Summary: Alwin Out helps KZ win over LDODK with three (!) seconds to go

KZ from Koog aan de Zaan won the korfball match against LDODK in a rather absurd way. Alwin Out scored the winning point with three (!) seconds left on the clock. That made it 23-22 for the Kogers.

KZ started the top match in the Korfball League knowing that the Frisians were the leader and KZ was in fourth place. However, the Kogers started the match properly. Everything went in the right direction, both offensively and defensively. Offensively, they were extremely effective given their high shooting percentage of 27%.

Partly because of this, the home team was able to take a 10-5 lead. Nikki Boerhout in particular struck at important moments. In the closing stages of the first half, LDODK came closer: 12-9.

Dying seconds

After halftime, KZ continued to maintain the initiative in the match and quickly expanded the margin to six points: 18-12. The Kogers seemed to have a comfortable lead, but in the second part after half-time LDODK came back nicely. That comeback was complete at 20-20. It therefore remained unprecedentedly tense in the final phase, but things turned out well for KZ in the dying seconds (23-22).

Thanks to the victory, the gap with the still leader LDODK is now only two points. The Zaanse korfball derby is on the program on Saturday between KZ and Groen Geel from Wormer.
