The handball players of Aalsmeer have not succeeded in reaching the final of the HandbalNL League. A visit to Lions had to be won, but it became 35-29 for the team from Limburg. Volendam benefits from the defeat and advances to the final after the victory over Tachos.
The formation of Bert Bouwer knew in advance that it could not lose in South Limburg in order to claim the national title. A draw would have sufficed on the basis of the large goal difference. Lions, on the other hand, was already certain of the final spot, but Aalsmeer was able to qualify for the final as number two.

The visitors immediately got a blow in the first half. Lions waltzed over the North Holland team, so that Aalsmeer faced a seven-point deficit at halftime: 20-13. Volendam benefited from that score, because that team was 17-12 ahead against Tachos at halftime. In the second half, Aalsmeer was unable to close the gap towards Lions and lost with six points in Sittard: 35-29.
The first final match at the championship is scheduled for June 3. This will go between Volendam and Lions. Volendam eventually won 34-26 at Tachos in Waalwijk and can therefore still prepare for the final battle for the national title. The return will follow on June 10.
