Suffering from BVB long-term problem child ended

Mateu Morey from Bundesliga soccer club Borussia Dortmund was unable to play a single game in the 2021/22 season. Now the BVB right-back has finally put his long injury behind him.

Last season’s DFB Cup semi-final in early May 2021 was the last competitive game that Mateu Morey was able to play. Shortly after he was substituted on, he injured his knee badly through no external influence, and a little later the bitter diagnosis was made: a cruciate ligament rupture.

Last October, Morey was able to complete his first running sessions, and he completed large parts of his rehabilitation in his native Mallorca. Now the suffering of the 22-year-old has apparently finally come to an end.

“I’m at the end of my rehab, I see the light at the end of the tunnel,” Morey wrote on Twitter.

“I’m sure this injury has made me grow as a person and a player, I will continue to do my best to help BVB on the pitch,” he added. The right-back also thanked his “family, friends, teammates, BVB fans and all the people who supported him” for finally being able to play football again.

Mateu Morey should now return to training at Borussia Dortmund until the end of the season. For the team of head coach Marco Reus there are still two games of the season: Next Saturday (3:30 p.m.) they play against SpVgg Greuther Fürth, who are sure to be relegated, followed by the last home game for BVB against Hertha BSC (May 14). .

Morey has played 40 games for Borussia Dortmund so far, 18 of them in the Bundesliga, four in the DFB Cup and seven in the Champions League. After moving from FC Barcelona in the summer of 2019, he was initially with the second team in the regional league.
