Sudosa-Desto still one hurdle away from historic cup final

Visser Assen/Sudosa-Desto easily qualified for the semi-finals of the cup tournament with a 3-0 win over top divisionist Sliedrecht Sport 2. The team will play against the winner of AVV Keistad and Apollo 8.

The people of Assen have a place in the cup final, which will be played on April 1 in the Maaspoort in Den Bosch, up for grabs. AVV Keistad plays in the top division, while Sudosa-Desto has already won this competition twice against Apollo 8 from Borne.

In just over an hour, the team of trainer/coach Mark Afman easily dealt with Sliedrecht Sport. Afman had only changed his line-up in one position compared to last Saturday against Zwolle.

Sudosa-Desto controls the match

Kirsten Wessels started for Manon Torenbeek. The team from Assen controlled the match. At the beginning of the first two sets, Sliedrecht was still able to reasonably follow Sudosa-Desto, but as soon as the guests accelerated, the difference was easily made.

The first set was won 25-13, while set two went to the guests 25-17. After that, the game leveled off at Sudosa-Desto and it took a long time before the difference was made in the last set. From 20-20 it became 24-20, after which Paula Boonstra, who blocked the hands, finally scored the last point: 25-22.

‘Then I hate this job’

“We won, that was what mattered,” Afman said about the cup match. “We did what we had to do. But I continue to find these difficult games. I prefer to let everyone play. Because they all deserve it. Then I hate this job. But that’s also part of it.” The semi-final will be played on February 10.
