Surprise blockade visit for the climate stickers…
When the chaotic people of the last generation stuck themselves on the street in front of the party headquarters on Friday afternoon during the small party conference of the CDU, the chairman of the “Junge Union” (JU), Johannes Winkel (31), surprisingly sat down with them. “I’ve always wanted to talk to the last generation about climate protection,” Winkel said afterwards to BILD.
Winkel had made a phone call just outside the Konrad-Adenauer-Haus during the party congress, then saw blue lights on the street and traffic chaos and heard horns. It was clear to him: a glue campaign.
He walked purposefully to the intersection and sat down between a group of six to seven activists. “Hi, who are you?” Winkel casually opens the conversation with one of the climate stickers, filming the situation himself with his cell phone. Then he wants to know: “Would you fight with us as the Young Union of Germany for more climate-neutral nuclear power?”
But instead of concrete answers, there is only evasion and moaning!
“I would like to refer you to our press spokesman,” says one of the climate stickers, which is a very detailed question. “Please contact our spokesman …”, another interjects, then continues: “I don’t want to fight anything with you specifically.”
The JU boss summarizes in his short video that the last generation is not willing to discuss things. “If I stick myself to the street, I have to have at least a hint of arguments at the start,” Winkel later told BILD. “I was disappointed by the refusal to discuss and the cluelessness.”
He would have “no problem with organizing a joint event with the last generation on the subject of climate-neutral nuclear power,” Winkel continued. “I would suggest doing it at a table instead of on the street floor though.”
The day after his spontaneous visit to the climate adhesives, Winkel received a lot of positive feedback for his campaign at the CDU convention.
And even if he was unable to get any satisfactory answers from the activists in his short interview, Winkel says: “I will always try to talk to everyone about real climate protection.”
