British actress Julian Sands died tragically at the age of 65. The actor was missing for almost half a year, until his remains were found in the San Gabriel Mountains in California.

Career

Sands’ acting career began properly at the age of 26, when in 1984 he was able to play a supporting role in Fields of Death to the movie.

Disappearing

Sands went on a hike in January after his 65th birthday in the San Gabriel Mountains of California, targeting the Mount Baldy area.

On January 13, the actor, who went for a walk, was reported missing. The authorities went in search of the missing actor, but the severe winter weather in California made the search difficult.

After a week of searching, the San Bernardino County Sheriff said the search was being conducted with the help of a helicopter due to the risk of avalanches. Land searches were too dangerous at that time.

– We have heard from his family that he is an experienced hiker, and it sounds like he has prepared well for the trip, the sheriff’s office announced hopefully in January.

At the end of January, the search yielded results, as a missing person was found in the mountain area. It wasn’t Sands though, it was Jin Chung, who was rushed to the hospital after being rescued from the mountain winter. Sands is an avid mountaineer. He has said that he came close to death after a storm hit the Andes in the early 90s.

The searches did not yield results, so they stopped for a while, but after the weather conditions changed, they started looking for the actor again in June.

Harsh weather conditions have posed constant challenges in the search for Sands. The actor’s family published their thanks to the searchers who defied the circumstances to find the actor.

The decisive moment in the search came on June 24, when the search was restarted. Hikers in the mountains found human remains near the mountain where Sands had been searched for.

On June 27, authorities confirmed that the remains found on the mountain belonged to Sands. The official cause of death has not been announced, but harsh weather conditions and January’s avalanches are believed to be the cause of the actor’s death.
