Successor TV flop Robert ten Brink scores even worse: ‘Small dip’

A major setback for RTL 4: the successor of Robert ten Brink, who was removed from the tube, scores even worse. “The competition with football plays a part, but this is a big dip.”

For weeks, Robert ten Brink scored so lousyly with his educational TV show Opvoeding Doe Je Zo that RTL 4 decided to delete one episode completely. Since its real successor, Bureau Arnhem, will not start until next week, the channel had one free Tuesday evening to fill.

Worse than Robert

RTL 4 has chosen to broadcast one episode of the new Videoland show Matched by Mom by the new broadcaster talent Edson da Graça. The consequence? Viewing figures that are even lower than Robert’s. Only 336 thousand people (6.5 percent market share) watched this dating show yesterday.

Viewing figure expert Tina Nijkamp: “Wow. Matched by Mom scores even less. Competition Ajax also plays a part, but still: big dip. 336 thousand versus 352 thousand viewers. Fortunately, it is only once and the rest can be seen on Videoland.”

What’s the problem?

What’s the problem with this Videoland show? Tina knows. “The problem with Matched by Mom is that as a viewer you know / feel (unlike with Boer Zoekt Vrouw and its predecessor, Daughter-in-law Gezocht, that it won’t work out between the candidates anyway.”

All in all, Edson’s first solo job on RTL 4 was not successful. Not surprising, Tina thinks. “Where Daughter-in-law Wanted was really serious, dating à la Farmer Wants Woman, I have the idea that this is more à la Love Island. Even a former participant of this participates, I read. Whether real love comes from it or whether we mainly see sunny pictures? I think the latter.”

Football on one

Football took the lead yesterday at prime time: Ajax – Napoli scored 1.6 million viewers (32 percent) to RTL 7. NPO 1 offered the most watched alternative with the combination Opsporing Verzocht and Rampvlucht, where 909 thousand (18 percent) and 826 thousand (16 percent) people watched it.

Furthermore, SBS 6’s Familia Gillis (657 thousand and 13 percent), NPO 2’s Nieuwsuur (536 thousand and 10 percent) and SBS 6’s Today Inside (521 thousand and 10 percent) were the most popular.
