Successor of Nadine Visser is ready: Maayke Tjin A-Lim ‘new kid in the blocks’

Of course we have Nadine Visser, but the next hurdling talent is ready. Horderunner Maayke Tjin A-Lim joined the top at the beginning of this year by participating in the World Indoor Championships. There, the 24-year-old athlete of AV Zaanland made it to the semi-finals. And she’s come a long way.

The hurdler from Hoorn suffered a nasty foot injury four years ago. Subsequently, partly due to the mental problems that came with it, she developed nervosa bulimia. “I don’t want to say that that took a number of years of my career,” says Tjin A-Lim, who reached the semi-finals at the World Indoor Championships.

The participation in the world championships in Belgrade (Serbia) meant her definitive breakthrough with the general public for Tjin A-Lim. “I can now say of myself that I am mentally strong,” said Tjin A-Lim.

On the Ter Specke Cup Tjin A-Lim won the 100m hurdles in 12.91 seconds. That was the first game of the outdoor season. Together with her coach Purcy Marte, she has focused on the NK athletics to qualify for the World Championships in Eugene and the European Championships in Munich.
