“Succession” is the big winner

The opulent media satire “Succession” won the Emmy for best drama series of the year. At the awards ceremony on Monday (local time) in Los Angeles, the series about a declining family empire also received awards for best actor Kieran Culkin and best actress Sarah Snook, among others. “Succession” ended this year after four seasons and beat seven competitors in the premier category of the world’s most important television award.

The restaurant series “The Bear – King of the Kitchen” also won big in the actor categories for comedy series. Jeremy Allen White was named best actor in a comedy series. Ebon Mass-Bachrach as family friend “Cousin Richie” won best supporting actor, while Ayo Edebiri was named best supporting actress. Christopher Storer won awards for best direction and best screenplay.

The social satire “Beef” also won several Emmys, including the award for “Best Miniseries, Anthology and Television Film.” The two main actors Steven Yeun and Ali Wong, as well as Lee Sung Jin, also received awards for best direction and best screenplay in a miniseries. In ten episodes, “Beef” tells the story of two strangers who get into increasingly aggressive arguments after a car accident.

The 75th ceremony of the world’s most important television award was postponed for a few months due to the writers and actors’ strike in Hollywood. The Emmys are awarded in around 120 categories, and the winners in the more than two dozen most important categories were announced on Monday evening.
