“Succession”: Iconic props went under the hammer

There was an auction to buy: a dog costume, scorpion paperweight and THE Burberry bag.

The successful series “Succession”, which ended with a fourth season in 2023, not only won the “Best Drama Series” category at the Emmys on January 15th, but also delivered the best performance at a props auction in the USA.

The auction house “Heritage” in Dallas, Texas, auctioned off a total of 236 items from the HBO satire. These include, for example, a dog costume, hand-written index cards, a scorpion paperweight and a Burberry bag – all objects that played more or less important roles in the episodes. Reason enough for fans to take part in the promotion.

The “ridiculously roomy” designer bag

The Burberry bag in particular at the auction made one think back to the final season, in which Tom (Matthew Macfadyen) mocked cousin Greg’s (Nicholas Greg) companion Bridget (Francesca Root-Dodson) and this “ridiculously spacious bag” in which He speculated that she was probably carrying “flat shoes for the subway” or even a lunch box. The designer piece was ultimately auctioned for 17,200 euros.

The online auction, commissioned by HBO, ended on Saturday, January 13th and raised a total of 572,000 euros.
