20-year-old hockey player John Peterka scored his first goal in his third NHL game. Born in Munich, he is fighting for a spot on the Buffalo Sabers team.
The Munich ice hockey talent John-Jason Peterka has scored his first goal in the US professional league NHL. The 20-year-old, who is under contract with the Buffalo Sabers, scored in a duel with Tim Stützle (Ottawa Senators) after a nice combination in the second third to make it 1-1 and thus initiated the turnaround in the game.
“The Pure Joy”
After trailing 1-0, the Sabers ended up winning 4-1 at home. “It was pure joy” said Peterka, who played his third NHL game and got almost twelve minutes of ice time: “I was so excited. I don’t know, I’m just speechless.”
Peterka, who was drafted in 2020, had already played twice for the Sabers at the turn of the year 2021/22 – even in the first line of attack. The attacker, who played in the DEL for EHC Munich before moving to the USA, then played in the AHL for the rest of the season and promoted a quick return with 80 points in 80 games for the Rochester Americans. Now he met for the first time in the NHL.
