The world famous dressage horse Salinero has passed away. Anky van Grunsven announced this on her Instagram account on Tuesday evening. “My heart is broken. Salinero leaves us in tears.”
Van Grunsven and Salinero have won five Olympic medals together: two gold, two silver and one bronze.
The gelding retired in 2013. Salinero turned 28 years old. “The memories will always remain”, writes the amazon on instagram.
There is a statue of the successful horse Salinero in Erp. On the same spot is also a statue of Bonfire, Anky van Grunsven’s horse who died in 2013.
