Substitute Luuk de Jong saves a point for FC Barcelona

Luuk de Jong has prevented a defeat for FC Barcelona. The striker was allowed to come in against Espanyol in the penultimate minute of regular playing time against Espanyol and headed his team to 2-2 deep in injury time.

Barcelona are fourth in La Liga after the draw, 15 points behind leaders Real Madrid. Espanyol is currently the number 13 of the highest Spanish football league.

Pedri opened the score for Barcelona in the 2nd minute. But Espanyol fought back into the game and took a 2-1 lead with goals from Sergi Darder and Raúl de Tomás.

Both teams finished with ten men, after red cards in injury time for Nicolás Ribaudo (Espanyol) and Gerard Piqué (Barcelona). Frenkie de Jong was substituted at Barcelona after more than an hour. Tony Vilhena had a basic place at Espanyol but was also substituted after an hour.
