Ajax defeated SC Heerenveen at home with a lot of pain and effort. Steven Bergwijn and Brian Brobbey created a large margin in the first half. It became exciting after a goal by Luuk Brouwers. In the final phase, Chuba Akpom put an end to all uncertainty with two goals (4-1). With the victory, Ajax rises to eleventh place.
Steven Bergwijn gave Ajax the lead in the 25th minute. Brian Brobbey scored the home team’s second goal in the 42nd minute. Luuk Brouwers scored for Heerenveen (2-1) in injury time of the first half.
Referee Sander van der Eijck disallowed Brobbey’s goal after more than an hour. He ruled that the striker had committed a foul on Pawel Bochniewicz. The match might have ended differently if Osame Sahraoui had not shot the post on behalf of SC Heerenveen after more than 80 minutes.
