However, this payment option was deactivated at the turn of the year. Netflix probably wanted to avoid the mandatory revenue share that Apple required from all applications that earned money with native in-app purchases, explains ifun.de. For Apple, this was previously a very lucrative business, as iphone-ticker explains, because in the first year of a current subscription, 30 percent of the subscription fees go to the iPhone manufacturer, in the following years it is only 15 percent.

iPhone users can now use a trick to save money on Netflix subscriptions. Although the in-app payment for the streaming service’s video app has been deactivated, there is the possibility, as iphone-ticker explains, to get it back via a detour. With the games that Netflix now offers and that can be downloaded via the App Store, you can take out a Netflix subscription directly in the app, so that billing runs via the Apple ID account as before. The subscription taken out via the games app is still the classic streaming subscription from Netflix at a price of 12.99 euros per month. This procedure should also work not only for new customers, but also for existing customers with a currently unused Netflix account.
Netflix Games
Since the end of 2021, Netflix has also offered games as part of its subscription. The special thing is that the games are free of advertising, in-app purchases or other additional costs, explains Netflix on its own website. There are currently 13 games, including, for example, ‘Stranger Things: 1984’, ‘Stranger Things 3: The Game’ or ‘Hextech Mayhem: A League of Legends Story’.
