What fashion schools are there? What do they specialize in and how do you choose one of them? Here is a small (and incomplete) guide for fashion schools in the DACH region.

Study fashion in Germany

AMD

At the AMD have been teaching fashion, journalism and communication with a focus on fashion and lifestyle for more than 30 years.

Reutlingen University

In the course Fashion and Textile Design the decision to focus on textile design or fashion design is made after the first semester. The main objective of the course is “basic knowledge of developing independent collections of fabrics and fashion, as well as imparting practical and creative skills”, as the school puts it.

LDT Academy Fashion Management Nagold

It’s been there for 70 years LDT Nagold. It “consistently and structures business management content with product knowledge topics. BSP Business School Berlin

the BSP Business School Berlin is a state-approved, private university for management. But in addition to the many management subjects, the university also offers a large number of courses for those interested in fashion – such as fashion marketing or sustainable fashion.

Fashion Design College Dusseldorf

The main focus of the three-year training Fashion Design College in Düsseldorf is in the subject ‘Sustainable Design Strategies’, in which the students deal critically with the global fashion industries and their worldwide production facilities.

UDK Berlin

Around 450 applications reach the application committee of the UdK for the new academic year. “With us, you have the opportunity to apply completely freely by working on a homework assignment that we have given you.   • Tuition fees: With the exception of a few advanced master’s degree courses, no tuition fees are charged at the UdK Berlin. This also applies to international students. However, all students at Berlin universities have to pay a fee of currently around 320.00 euros per semester.

Study fashion in Austria

University of Applied Arts Vienna

Swiss Textile Technical School (STF)

The STF Swiss Textile Technical School has been a competence center in the textile, fashion and lifestyle industry in Switzerland since 1881. The school stands for sustainable educational competence covering the entire life cycle of textile, fashion and lifestyle products and offers numerous training and further education courses , from basic education to master’s degrees.

the Swiss Textile Technical School (STF) offers the new course “Fashion Influencer” from the autumn semester.

  • Location: Zurich
  • Courses: Fashion Design & Technology, Textile Design & Technology, Textile Business Management
  • Degrees: Bachelor, Master, Diploma
  • Start of semester: 22 August 2022; Registration is still possible until August 17, 2022.
  • Standard period of study Bachelor: 7 semesters
  • Tuition fees: 1,500 Swiss francs (about 1,540 euros) registration fee. Tuition fees vary by degree and can be found on the website. Example textile designer: 4,890 Swiss francs (about 5,000 euros) per semester. Special tariffs apply to students from abroad, which can be requested from the secretariat.
