Study: Dutch people go abroad en masse, despite corona

The Dutch are planning to go abroad again this summer. Contrary to last year, Corona no longer keeps people at home, concludes I&O Research in a study commissioned by the NOS.

Last year, half of the Dutch considered it irresponsible to go on holiday abroad. It is now only 9 percent. More than half (58 percent) also said they would rather go on holiday in the Netherlands last year because of the virus, while this only plays a role in 13 percent.

Three in four Dutch people plan to go on holiday this year, one in three will go in July or August. Germany (18 percent), France (17 percent), Spain (15 percent) and Italy (10 percent) are especially popular.

According to the researchers, holidaymakers are often not aware of the corona measures in the country of destination. This could cause problems, especially in Portugal and France, according to I&O.
