Study claims to have shown that it makes Gelsenkirchen more popular

Is Gelsenkirchen becoming a trend now? A study by the holiday home platform FeWo-direkt” and from the online travel agency Expedia” says that Taylor Swift’s additional shows in Gelsenkirchen have increased demand for vacation rentals and hotels. It is said that there was also an overall international interest in the city.

More interest in the big city worldwide

Gelsenkirchen is not known as a tourist metropolis, but Taylor Swift is said to have managed by announcing her additional shows that there are more interested parties – also on an international level. In the first two weeks after the tour dates in Germany were announced, inquiries about the city in the Ruhr area increased by 30 percent. In fact, according to the study, there was an increase of 100 percent in inquiries from Great Britain and Austria by 480 percent.

In the first two days after Swift’s announcement, at FeWo-direkt” a 65 percent and Expedia” saw a 90 percent increase in searches for places to stay in Gelsenkirchen. And in the USA, too, there is said to have been greater curiosity about the German location. Here, the search queries have probably increased by 190 percent compared to the time before the tour was announced.

Taylor Swift is currently on The Eras Tour, where she will play a total of seven shows in Germany. The first gig will take place on July 17th in Gelsenkirchen, followed by two more gigs there, two in Hamburg and two in Munich.
