Students put the cloth industry in the spotlight with a temporary exhibition
The cloth industry played an important role in the history of Flanders. That is why a temporary exhibition about the industry is opening in the Yper Museum. Students of KU Leuven zoom in on the medieval cloth industry on the basis of three overarching topics.
Life as a textile worker
In this way, visitors can learn more about the dyeing process, because dyeing fabric was not self-evident. The story of people who worked in the textile industry is also highlighted. In the exhibition, three fictional characters talk about their lives as textile workers. Luxury laws in the Middle Ages determined who could wear what. These relationships in medieval society are also discussed in the exhibition.
