Students: good hope for low student interest for ‘bad luck generation’

The Intercity Student Consultation (ISO) has “good hope” that the study interest for the so-called unlucky generation will benefit students.

In the night from Thursday to Friday, a majority in the House of Representatives voted in favor of a proposal to reduce the tax benefit for expats. From that money, the student interest for the unlucky generation should be reduced.

It is not yet known how much this can be reduced. ISO chairman Demi Janssen emphasizes that it is important not to leave students who no longer received student finance and had to borrow money out in the cold.

Freeze interest

The House also adopted a motion to freeze interest on student loans entirely. Janssen believes that this should continue. “If necessary, coverage for costs must be sought elsewhere. It is essential that (former) students gain financial security and do not have to tread on thin ice next year.”
