It will be windy again this afternoon. The RMI expects gusts of wind that can reach 80 km per hour or more. It’s going to rain too. The weekend promises to be calm and dry.




This afternoon there will initially be clear spells in the east of the country while it is already cloudy in the west with periods of rain and showers. During the afternoon, the precipitation zone moves to the center and also the east of the country. Clearing will appear behind the disturbance, but showers with a wintry character are also possible.

The wind blows quite strong to strong and clears from southwest to west. The gusts can reach 80 km/h or more, in the southern Ardennes rather 60 to 70 km/h. The maximums are between 6 degrees in the High Fens and 11 degrees in the Kempen.

The gardens, parks and forests in the Brussels Region and the parking lots in the Sonian Forest will be closed on Thursday due to the violent wind gusts that have been announced, Brussels Environment reports. Weather permitting, the parks will reopen tomorrow/Friday.

Winter showers possible

A few winter showers are still possible in the evening. Later in the night it will become dry with broad clear spells. Towards the end of the night there may be more clouds with a chance of a winter shower, especially in the regions near the Dutch border as well as the southern half of the country. The minimums are between 1 and 4 degrees in low and central Belgium and between 0 and -3 degrees south of Sambre and Meuse, where ice patches can form. The wind will blow moderately and at sea quite strong from west to southwest.

Tomorrow Friday it will be cloudy with some showers that can be accompanied by grain hail or a thunderclap. Melting snow is also possible, especially in the Ardennes. The maximums are between 2 degrees in the High Fens and 8 degrees in Flanders. The wind blows moderately to sometimes quite strong inland and fairly strong to strong at sea from west to southwest, veering to northwest.

Calm and dry weekend

In the night from Friday to Saturday, the tendency for showers to decrease and clear up. It will then be calm, dry and slightly cloudy to clear. Here and there low cloud fields or freezing fog banks can form. It will freeze everywhere with minimums of -1 to -6 degrees. Winds will be weak from southerly or changeable directions.

Saturday a high pressure area ensures dry and calm weather. In the morning it freezes in most places with freezing fog banks here and there. During the day it will be sunny. The maximums are between 3 degrees in the High Fens to 8 to 9 degrees in Flanders. Winds will be light to moderate from east to southeast.

Sunday will be a dry and sunny day. In the morning it will be cold again with general frost. In the afternoon temperatures fluctuate between 4 and 10 degrees with a strong and moderate southeast wind.

Also Mondaymorning it freezes almost everywhere. During the day it will remain dry and it will be mostly sunny, although more, mainly high, clouds will move over the country from the west during the day. The maximums are between 6 and 12 degrees with a moderate southerly wind.

Tuesday A weakening or non-weakening disturbance will move across the country from the northwest with lots of clouds and periods of rain, especially in the northwestern part of the country. The maximums are between 5 and 10 degrees. Moderate southerly to southwesterly winds are expected to turn to northeast during the day.
