Holstein Kiel has put an end to the impressive winning streak of 1. FC Heidenheim in the 2nd Bundesliga. The “Storks” turned the game around on the 12th matchday after falling behind. In the end it was 3:1 (1:1) for Kiel.
This ends a series of eight (!) games without defeat (three wins, five draws) for Heidenheim, who still remain in fourth place in the table. After the second win in a row, Kiel moved up to sixth place and one point behind FCH.
It initially looked good for the Ostwuerttembergers. Denis Thomas shot his colors in front after 31 minutes with his third goal of the season.
But then the tide turned, and that was mainly due to Steven Skrzybski. The former Schalke player scored to make it 1-1 just before the break with a wonderful direct acceptance (45th).
The new goalgetter from Kiel also took the lead. His goal to make it 2:1 (51st) was his eighth goal of the season, so he takes the sole lead in the top scorer list in the 2nd league.
Kwasi Okyere Wriedt (66th) put the “Storks”, who were strong in the second half, on the road to victory. Heidenheim didn’t have much to oppose the increase in speed in Kiel in the second half.
FCH at Union, then at home against Greuther Fürth
At least 1. FC Heidenheim has an additional job to do: In the cup, FCH is visiting Union Berlin on Wednesday (19.10.22, 8.45 p.m.) and is hoping for a bad day for the top Bundesliga team there.
On the 13th matchday of the 2nd division, Heidenheim will then host SpVgg Greuther Fürth (Sunday, October 23rd, 2022, 1.30 p.m.). Kiel has to pass Darmstadt two days beforehand (6:30 p.m.).
