In 2019 it became first boxing gala organized in Oostzaan. After the corona years, it can continue again this year. The gala is named after the fathers of Gilbert Hallie and Mario Walda: the Cees Hallie and Mat Walda boxing event. The two families are well known in the boxing world.

Kilat is in good spirits for his party, strengthened by the fact that his grandfather is watching. “My grandfather has been there in every match in amateur boxing. Unfortunately he has not been able to attend my professional matches due to his health. This is his first professional match, so I have to do my best.”

Gilbert is a bit tense all evening, but in a good mood. “It is therefore a very special day, really something unique. In addition to all the top players, we also have the Dutch team boxing against the Scottish team. It is a champion ball.”

Organizing such an evening should not be underestimated. “This time it’s going a little better, I’m better prepared for it.” Grinning: “The first time I was completely blown away, I blacked out. Then my wife took over for the last week. But now I have everything under control.”

Annual gala

The organizer has enough plans to make this gala an annual success: “I hope we can continue with this. That I will grow with Kilat: I organize these kinds of programs and he with boxing.”
