Striking transfer Zeefuik from Volendam to AZ: “He does not come in a spread bed”

Tonight’s football talk show De Aftrap will of course be about the top teams Ajax – PSV and AZ – Feyenoord, but the transfer period that has just ended is also discussed. Remarkable is the interim transfer of the only 19-year-old Lequincio Zeefuik from FC Volendam to AZ. The striker has signed for 5.5 years in Alkmaar. “He can profile himself, but does not end up in a spread bed,” says former FC Volendam goalkeeper Jaap Schilder.

In the fight against relegation, FC Volendam Zeefuik will miss the last part of this season very much. The young, but physically strong attacker had played Robert Mühren out of the starting line-up and was one of the few bright spots in the number seventeen of the premier league.

Clumsy

Schilder understands well that AZ is already picking him up. “It’s fantastic for that boy. When he arrived at Volendam I frowned. He was still so clumsy and so young, but he has really asserted himself in recent months.”

“For AZ it is wonderful venture capital,” continues Schilder, who played about a hundred matches for FC Volendam in the second half of the 1980s. “Undoubtedly Volendam has been to Zeefuik a number of times to continue his contract and then you get a neat ‘no’ as an answer, because that’s not what a player like that does. It is incorrect that the board has been sleeping. The player has a decisive vote in what will happen.

The other guest at the table, former Ajax player Henk Medik, was there in the late sixties and early seventies the golden Ajax. There was no breakthrough in the first team. The now 70-year-old former footballer also played one season for Telstar. That was in ’77/’78 when the Velsen team was relegated from the Premier League.

World goal

The only goal the defender scored in his career was the last for Telstar at the highest level. “It was a world goal against Volendam. I shot the ball straight into the cross from 25 meters, behind Frans Hoek. It is nice that you win 1-0 against Volendam,” says the Edam native with a smile.

This time it was VVH/Velserbroek’s turn to achieve a nice score in the Kratje Trap section. If you want to watch this broadcast, click on the video at the top.
