Liverpool FC presents new coach

The “Reds” have found a successor for the Dutchman. The club welcomes the future team manager on social media.
Since the separation from controversial coach Arne Slot, there has been speculation about who could become the new strong man at Liverpool FC. Now the Dutchman’s successor has been determined: The Spaniard Andoni Iraola will be in charge of the “Reds” from this summer and will officially take up his job with the 20-time English champions on July 1st.
The club presented the 43-year-old in a video on social media on Thursday evening. “I want to be one of you,” says Iraola in the video that shows him wearing a Liverpool scarf at Anfield Road.

Iraola was most recently manager of AFC Bournemouth in the Premier League from 2023 to 2026. He led the “Cherries” into the Europa League in sixth place last Premier League season, finishing just three points behind fifth-placed Liverpool. His successor at Bournemouth will be Marco Rose.
“I’m really excited, really excited. Because of course you know Liverpool, you know that it’s a big club, a huge club, one of the biggest in the world,” said Iraola, who is from Spain. “The atmosphere, the fans, the club, the players, the chance for me to train top players, the chance to fight for titles. I think it couldn’t be more attractive. You rarely find something like that.”
The 47-year-old slot had a contract in Liverpool until the summer of 2027, but had to leave after a disappointing season. As Jürgen Klopp’s successor, Slot had looked after the team since 2024 and won the championship straight away. In the past season, Liverpool clearly lagged behind their own expectations. The gap to champions FC Arsenal was 25 points in the end.
