Making a statement at the press conference held after the match played at SAP Garden, the Lithuanian coach started his speech by congratulating the team and the fans.
Underlining that it is very important to get fan support in Germany, Jasikevicius said, “We had a great performance in the first 25 minutes. We were able to keep up with the standard of Fenerbahçe basketball, but we were a disaster in the remaining time. We had problems in many aspects. We especially had problems with rebounds. The 20 offensive rebounds our opponent took tells a lot. We scored with easy fouls. I can say that we defended the transition attacks well. When we evaluate the match at the end of the day, we are very happy to get this victory in this part of the season.” he said.
Stating that it may take January and February for the team to reach its full form, the Lithuanian coach said:
“This part of the season is not easy for any team. We have many new players, they are trying to get used to life and basketball in Europe. It may take January or February for us to reach 40-minute pace. Also, we cannot play as a full team. Wilbekin is injured. He is a very important player for us. Zagars may seem like the third point guard on paper, but he knows the game and the system. We should not forget that we have shortcomings. Some patience is required.”
