The organization of the Dutch Open, the international golf tournament in Cromvoirt next week, has added a striking participant: the just 14-year-old Lev Grinberg from Ukraine. The young golfer made a big impression in Antwerp last weekend.

It was the young amateur golfer Lev Grinberg who stole the show during the Soudal Open under Antwerp last weekend. In his first major international tournament, 14-year-old Grinberg competed almost flawlessly with the better professional golfers in the DP World Tour (formerly European Tour) tournament.

Grinberg was born in Ukraine, but has lived in Antwerp for almost ten years, where he joined the international golf club of Rinkven. On his home course, the young player was one of six amateurs allowed to compete in the Soudal Open. At 14 years, 6 months and 6 days, he became the second youngest player ever to make the cut on the DP World Tour. Only the Chinese Guan Tianlang (14 years and 169 days) was slightly younger in 2013.

In the end, Grinberg finished the tournament creditably in 64th place. Besides a lot of praise and attention, his performance also earned him a starting ticket for the Dutch Open, which starts next Thursday at Bernardus in Cromvoirt in Brabant.
