How it should be done depends on the Council of State. City Councilor Jens Balliere explains: “If they do not accept the request for suspension, the non-appointment of Anthony Dumarey will be retained and we will have to designate a new mayor during the next city council.”
In any case, the opposition remains convinced that Dumarey is no longer eligible for mayor. “The legal proceedings, the appointment by the minister and the advice of the Governor are three separate cases. We do not see how he can still become mayor,” Velle concludes.
