Carlos Tevez made a sensational move in 2009 when he moved from Manchester United to local rivals City.
Tevez scored 34 goals in a United shirt in all competitions including his loan spell between 2007 and 2009.
The Argentinian said he wanted to stay at United, but the coaching legend Sir Alex Ferguson’s action forced the move.
Ferguson did not keep his promise to Tevez.
– I was angry with Ferguson. As a coach he is phenomenal, but I had my own situation with him, Tevez said Mirror by.
Ferguson had said, according to Tevez, that United were going to buy him as their own. At the same time, however, United acquired the Bulgarian striker Dimitar Berbatov.
According to Tevez, Ferguson told him that United were going to talk to the Argentinian’s agent about a deal.
– They never called my agent. Time passed. They wanted my price to drop. I performed well every time I got on the court and people started calling my name.
According to Tevez, the transfer to City was completed after the Champions League final in 2009.
– I had more or less already accepted the sheik (Mansour bin Zayed al-Nahyan) that after the match I will take a private plane, fly with my family to meet him in Abu Dhabi and sign a contract with City.
– It was like a dagger for Ferguson. And me too, because I loved United, but he didn’t do what he promised all year, he made me suffer. It hurt a lot.
Tevez ended his playing career last year with Boca Juniors. He played for City until 2013, when he moved to Juventus.
