Strict instructions for teams coming to Finland for the World Hockey Championships

The World Hockey Tournament in May will be played to full audiences. No bubble conditions will be built for the teams.

There are 36 days to the start of the World Hockey Championships. The 16 teams arriving in Finland will be carefully instructed in case of coronavirus.

– All team activities during the tournament are planned in a safe manner. The actual bubble conditions are not built here. But the hotels have arrangements through which the teams have, among other things, their own routes, their own floors and their own meals, says the Secretary General of the Games Heikki Hietanen.

– Teams will continue to be carefully instructed because of the corona. And teams need to understand that it’s not worth making terribly extra contacts right now to make the race a success.

As a result, there may be fewer foreign-speaking puck players in Tampere and Helsinki than during the World Championships.

– The teams will be very much with each other, Hietanen adds.

Full arenas

There are no audience restrictions at the May Puck Carnival.

– Of course we go according to official regulations. At present, there are no restrictions in this regard in Finland.

– We still go according to the normal recommendations of the authorities. These include mask recommendations and hand hygiene. And everyone needs to remember safe behavior in general.

The most recent men’s hockey World Championships for full arenas were played in the spring of 2019 in Slovakia. That’s when Finland won the world championship.

– We can take full arenas, Hietanen is happy.

Tickets for Finnish games

Jukka Jalonen led the Lions in his Olympic gold in February. Tickets for the Finnish World Cup games are still available. Finland is playing in the Tampere block. AOP

Lions play in the new Nokia Arena in Tampere. The race starts on May 13th. Fans still have the opportunity to watch Finnish games.

– There are still some tickets left for even the Finnish games. There will probably be more when tickets are released from international quotas. It is worth visiting our website, Hietanen says.

– Unfortunately, they are more expensive head tickets that are freed from international quotas.

Cheap to Helsinki

Correspondingly, the atmosphere of the World Cup can also be enjoyed cheaply.

– Tampere has very good games even on days when Finland is not playing. A family of four can enter the auditorium for less than 70 euros.

– In Helsinki, a family of four can get to the auditorium at the cheapest price of 48 euros, Hietanen says.

In Helsinki, you can play on Nordenskjöldinkatu in the old ice rink, where the atmosphere is guaranteed.
