A ‘public toilet’ is what a resident of Eerste Passeerdersdwarsstraat says when she walks out the door towards the end of King’s Day. “The piss even flows into the hallway because people are whining against the door.”
In the Jordaan, one of the most visited areas in the city during King’s Day, some partygoers use these small streets to empty their bladders, the woman tells AT5.
“The problem has been there for years,” says the resident, who has lived on the street for 17 years, “but it has gotten a lot worse in the last eight years.” In the street, people would not only pee, but also defecate and sniff. Her neighbor has already had a bad time: “Here the piss even flows into the hallway because people are whining against the door.”
Reporting the problem to the municipality has so far been of no use: “I have been doing that for years, but I have never received a response. The police are so busy that you cannot expect them to intervene. When I They respond indifferently. I also tried to chase them away with a super soaker. One man just threw a beer bottle back at me.”
