‘Bram Stoker’s Dracula’ (Streamz)

Old school vibes with this 1992 print starring Gary Oldman as Count Dracula and Anthony Hopkins as Van Helsing. Keanu Reeves and Winona Ryder also make an appearance in this gothic romantic cult classic by Francis Ford Coppola, which uses a lot of clever, macabre camera effects despite some shortcomings.

‘The Haunting of Hill House’ (Netflix)

The reason you haven’t slept a wink since 2018. Loosely based on Shirley Jackson’s 1959 novel of the same name, this series by Mike Flanagan follows five siblings haunted by paranormal experiences in Hill House. With Michiel Huisman in a star role.

‘Halloween Kills’ (Streamz)

The John Carpenter franchise that inspired a slew of slasher films and saw Jamie Lee Curtis follow in the ‘scream queen’ footsteps of her mother and ‘Psycho’ actress Janet Leigh in 1978. This twelfth and penultimate part has the same plot as all the others: renounce boogeyman Michael Myers. This time with the help of the Haddonfield community.

‘The Hills Have Eyes’ (Disney+)

Remake of Wes Craven’s 1977 pulp classic. This 2006 American horror film follows a family targeted by a group of cannibalistic mutants after their car breaks down in the desert. Gory, grotesque and disturbing are just some of the watchwords for this film. For those who do not have enough afterwards, Disney + also has the sequel film available.

‘Suspiria’ (Prime Video)

Remake of Dario Argento’s 1977 horror masterpiece by ‘Call Me By Your Name’ director Luca Guadagnino. When an American woman (Dakota Johnson) enrolls at a prestigious dance academy, it turns out that she is led by a circle of witches. Expect an intense sequence of stylistic horror scenes and Tilda Swinton in no less than three different roles.

‘Get Out’ (Prime Video)

Jordan Peele’s directorial debut earned the filmmaker the Oscar for Best Original Screenplay and was a smash hit at the box office. This 2017 psychological horror film follows a young black man (Daniel Kaluuya) who uncovers shocking secrets when he meets his girlfriend’s mysterious family. A frightening film that makes you think.

‘Midsommar’ (Streamz)

This American-Swedish horror film was the hype of 2019 and tells the story of a young American couple who travel to fabulous Sweden to participate in a unique folk festival that quickly turns into a sick nightmare in broad daylight.

‘The Witch’ (Prime Video)

So sinister that it gained the approval of the real Satanic Temple. This folk horror film marks Anya Taylor-Joy’s film debut before she took up chess for Netflix in ‘The Queen’s Gambit’. Set in the 1630s, the film follows a Puritan family battling the forces of evil. A film that surprises until the very end.
