Stranger Things Spinoff: Duffer Brothers Discuss More Details

The worldwide fans of the Netflix series “Stranger Things” can look forward – not only to the fifth season, but also to a new project.

“1000 percent different”

Stranger Things creators Matt and Ross Duffer have reconfirmed production on a spinoff that’s been talked about for weeks. The brothers have now revealed a completely new storytelling – it will be “1000 percent different”.

The new project will be produced by the Upside Down Pictures brothers’ new production company. The Duffer brothers want to create entirely new stories with their new company – “stories that take place at that beautiful crossroads, where the ordinary meets the extraordinary, where great spectacle coexists with intimate character work, where heart triumphs over cynicism”.

Sensitive surprise

The only thing the series is supposed to associate with the spin-off is the “sensibility of the narrative.” While there are parallels to the “Stranger Things” storyboard, the storytelling style is very different from the original. It’s not supposed to be an Eleven, Steve or Dustin spin-off. The brothers are still in the dark about exactly what the spin-off will be about, only they and actor Finn Wolfhard know the details. But they promise a big surprise: “We spent I don’t know how many hours researching all this. So it’s something completely different.”

This statement suggests that the spin-off is neither related to the well-known characters nor will it be set in the 80s. But whatever the plot will be, fans of the globally successful cult series will have to be patient.

Other Projects

In addition to the Stranger Things spin-off, Matt and Ross Duffer are already working on other projects, such as a series adaptation of the fantasy novel The Talisman by Stephen King and Peter Straub. In addition, production for a play that is to have the same setting as “Stranger Things” is also in full swing.
