Lots of hits

Series directors and writers Matt Duffer and Ross Duffer, and music director Nora Felder put together the ’80s-style soundtrack. You can expect classics like “California Dreamin” by the Beach Boys and “Detroit Rock City” by Kiss. In addition, there is even a German-language hit with “Rock Me Amadeus” by Falco. The soundtrack also features a new version of Journey’s “Separate Ways (Worlds Apart)” remixed by Bryce Miller and Alloy Tracks.

Winona Ryder’s love for Kate Bush

Lead actress Winona Ryder has already commented on a track from the soundtrack that she particularly liked – Kate Bush’s “Running Up That Hill”:

“I’ve been obsessed with her since I was a little girl,” Ryder, who plays Joyce Byers, said of the singer-songwriter in a recent interview. “I don’t know if you did it too, but my school had to dress up for gym class and sometimes I just didn’t want to. I just sat there with my headphones and listened to her. She’s a hero to me.” Having the new wave ballad now on the show was a wish come true for Ryder: “I’ve also been hinting on set for the past seven years by doing wore my Kate Bush t-shirts,” she revealed.

A second collection of songs will be released on July 1st, with the release of the second part of season 4. Incidentally, this only includes two episodes, which are more than two hours long.
