“Stranger Things” makers wanted to let Max die

SPOILER ALERT: Only read if you’ve already seen Stranger Things Season 4

It’s not easy being a kid on the mystery series Stranger Things. Little Will (Noah Schnapp) disappeared in season one, Eleven (Millie Bobby Brown) was raised by the whispering, evil Doctor Brenner (Matthew Modine), and Max (Sadie Sink) experienced trauma after trauma in season four. Her fate remains unclear after the season finale.

In the last episode she was in the hospital blind and with broken bones. She barely survived the attack of the villain Vecna. According to a Netflix interview, the “Stranger Things” makers had discussed Max’s premature death in the past.

“It was a possibility,” Ross Duffer said. For a while, the death of Sadie Sink’s character was actually planned. However, it was decided to end the season with the question of whether Max can make it. “We really don’t know yet whether Max is doing well.”

Fan-favorite Eddie (Joseph Quinn) fared less well. He fell victim to the bat-like monsters. “We fell in love with Eddie, we fell in love with Joe,” the showmakers defended. Unfortunately, we knew that the character had to die. “There’s a part of me that hopes it’s still around for season five.”

For this, Eddie was allowed to sacrifice himself heroically and play “Master Of Puppets” by Metallica in his last scene.

End after the fifth season

The final two episodes of Stranger Things season four were released on Netflix on July 1. According to the Duffer brothers, the mystery series will be over after season five. “You just have to say – yes, that’s it, that’s true for me, that’s inevitable. That’s the way it has to be.” Until then, the duo can rest on their laurels – the first part of the fourth season already broke several records.
