At a police station on Michelangelolaan in Eindhoven, officers came into contact with a package containing a strange powder. It is not clear what kind of powder it is. Officers who came into contact with it immediately suffered from stinging eyes and irritation. An officer has been taken to hospital, the police told ANP.
Police measuring equipment did not recognize the substance. That is why defense specialists have been called in for an investigation. Several defense people in orange and blue suits are now conducting research.
Disinfection street
These are specialists from the Defense CBRN Center in Vught. Employees of the center have knowledge in the field of chemical, biological, radiological and nuclear agents.
A special disinfection street has been set up next to the police station. Men who have done research inside are purified there. There is also a swimming pool. The specialists alternate because of the heat and can cool off in the water.
The fire brigade, ambulance and defense are at the police station with several vehicles. The street between the police station and the Catharina Hospital a little further away has been cordoned off.
