Straight through Bruges: Simon Mestdagh wins in his own home city

Favorites at the start were Simon Mestdagh and Alexander Diaz Rodriguez. At the start of the 15 km long race we immediately get five that make the difference. Simon Mestdagh leads on the Markt in Bruges ahead of Alexander Diaz Rodriguez, Thibaut De Smet and Tim Calliauw. But the last two succumb to the fast pace.

Halfway through the race, Mestdagh does the forcing. And Alexander Diaz Rodriguez, who two weeks ago had won Damme-Bruges-Damme with great ease, also creaks under this acceleration. Mestdagh has left for a solo trip of seven kilometers. Mestdagh finishes in a handsome 46 minutes and 12 seconds.
