The RMI warns tomorrow for code yellow throughout the country due to multiple precipitation zones. Attention will be paid from the afternoon onwards, local flooding can occur. The wind is also strong.
The weather picture is becoming turbulent, also predicts weather service Severe weatherBenelux. The day will start with clear skies, but rain is approaching from the west. The precipitation zone is located around a core of low pressure above the North Sea and will remain active over our country for hours.
The RMI expects precipitation amounts between 30 and 50 l/m² in a period of one and a half days. Code yellow is declared as soon as 25 l/m² falls in 24 hours.
“We expect the strongest wind gusts in the course of the late afternoon,” said weather analyst Nicolas Roose. Inland, speeds can reach 70 to 80 km/h. On the Belgian coast, an outlier of up to 100 km/h is not excluded. This can cause local storm damage.
Looking forward to the weekend
On Saturday, the rain zone with the most wind will slowly move towards Germany. Free fresh air is then supplied. It also often remains heavily clouded, with occasional precipitation. According to StormBenelux, temperatures fluctuate around 8°C, but the perceived temperature will be slightly lower.
The Tour of Flanders is on the program on Sunday. The riders can expect a dry edition. “After a fresh morning with local freezing cold, the mercury climbs to an average of 9°C in the afternoon,” says Roose.
